Southern Albania

If you want to visit a place full of culture and history, which still retains its old-world charm and considerable natural beauty, southern Albania could be the place for you. This region contains a wealth of Greek and Roman remains, most of which are hardly known by tourists. We will visit painted churches and fabulous Ottoman houses, often with no one else around. The towns of Berat and Gjirokaster are two of the most picturesque towns in the Balkans, while we will go off the beaten track to visit villages lost in time. The region also boasts the last truly wild river in Europe – the Vjosa. Southern Albania can be combined with parts of northern Greece.
